The training is done. But are your employees performing?

You invest in learning. Employees complete training, demonstrate skills, and grow. But do you actually know who's mastered what? Who's ready for more? And who still needs guidance?

Probably not. And neither does the manager.

Take Lisa. She works in retail sales. Through an online training, she shows she can guide a customer to the right product. This is true even when the customer is not sure what they want yet. Now Lisa is waiting for her manager to confirm she's mastered the skill.

But that confirmation doesn't come. Her manager has no idea Lisa is ready.

The shop floor has changed. The tracking hasn't.

Employees move in and out faster. Roles have grown more complex. They demand more product knowledge, independence, and the ability to read difficult situations. Whether employees are skilled enough for their job? That's no longer a training question. It's an organisational one.

The numbers back this up. 59% of experienced employees over 55 will leave the workforce within five years. This is according to research by Flip and Workplace Intelligence among 1,500 frontline managers.

At the same time, 48% of Gen Z is considering leaving the sector due to limited training and growth opportunities. The knowledge currently on the floor is disappearing faster than it's being passed on.

HR and L&D are judged on demonstrable skill growth. But they have no reliable view of what's actually happening on the floor. Employees complete training and demonstrate skills.

And that's where it stops. Employees don't know where they stand. And head office has no basis to steer from.

The administrator lays the groundwork. Click by click.

Because before Lisa could complete a single exercise, someone had to make it possible. Setting up a skills programme. Defining which sales skills employees need to master, at what level, and how they prove it.

Sounds straightforward. It isn't.

In practice, you're clicking back and forth between systems or programmes that aren't connected. Want to link a skill to an exercise? You don't do that from the skill itself. You do it somewhere else entirely.

For ten locations, four job levels, and twenty skills per level, that's hundreds of separate settings. Each one created, checked, and maintained on its own. Change something, and you start over.

The administrator loses hours to this. And the risk of errors grows with every setting that stands apart from the rest. Tracking skills at scale demands more than a good programme. It demands a workplace that works with you.

The manager doesn't know

The manager starts the day with no overview of who's waiting for an assessment. Lisa isn't on it. Neither are her colleagues. So Lisa waits. A day. Maybe longer. While she'd rather just get on with it.

Assessing whether someone has mastered a skill is the manager's job. But without an overview, that becomes reactive. Nothing happens until someone asks. And who asks for an assessment they don't know is available?

Research from WGU Labs confirms this isn't the exception. 70% of frontline managers want more training and support to do their job well. They don't get it.

Lisa and her colleagues deserve better

Lisa deserves fast feedback. She'll know sooner where she stands and can move up as soon as she's ready. For the administrator, the searching and clicking stops. Everything in one place, less manual work, and more confidence that it's right.

The manager opens the day with a clear picture. Who's waiting for an assessment? For which skill? And for how long? With a notification the moment something's ready, assessing skills becomes a natural part of the job.

And head office? They finally get the visibility they need. Who's mastered what, and who's ready for more. No searching, no guessing. Just a clear view.
