Make topics come alive

Thanks to a dynamic mix of media like news articles, videos, audio snippets, quizzes, and interactive elements, topics burst into life!

It gives you the freedom to dish out essential business info in a flexible and downright fun way. Hit the spotlight at the perfect moment, and you not only boost its value but also supercharge its impact on effective training. All this, totally separate from the obligatory training sessions that still linger and are often physically conducted by accredited agencies. But hey, in our view, this approach could definitely use a dash more flexibility. 😉

Now, let's focus on what you as a transport company can tackle on your own!

Tip #1: Step in

The aim of onboarding is to involve your new colleagues in your organisation and retain them for a longer period. Using a digital learning platform can help with this. A learning platform not only increases the efficiency of your onboarding but also spreads it out over time. The advantage of this is that your drivers will truly understand what the company stands for and feel at home in it. With an automated process, you allow employees to go through onboarding flexibly. This provides clarity, structure, and results in higher retention.

It's all too common for new colleagues to endure what we playfully term 'Death by PowerPoint.' They face a full day, week, or even longer of a relentless onslaught of presentations about the company. Their introduction becomes more of a trial than an enlightening and enjoyable experience. Moreover, this onboarding method burns a hole in your pocket, as the driver is grounded on those days. Can you recall how you found your onboarding experience?

How to retain people in your organization

Tip #2: Something for everyone

With a multitude of diverse drivers on the road, you want to ensure you're reaching and challenging everyone. A modern digital platform operates with groups, allowing you to serve up specific topics. This not only grants you the flexibility to elucidate processes across your entire organisation, from the office to the customer, but also opens doors to offering dynamic career paths and providing insight into various roles and skills. This kind of insight stands out as one of the pivotal factors that keep employees committed to an employer in today's world.

Tip #3: Just in Time Delivery

Deliver knowledge precisely when it's needed, coupled with a swift notification to let them know the information is ready. Just like your drivers reporting the successful delivery of goods upon reaching the destination, the pertinent knowledge is readily available on the learning platform.

As the drivers ventures abroad, everything they need to know is at their fingertips on their mobile device. Concisely and powerfully present all the necessary laws and regulations, permits, exemptions, and the key rules and agreements of the respective country. And, of course, you can also dish out the organizational work agreements. Offer short, impactful snippets about the organization, the mission and vision translated into everyone's contribution, behavior with the customer and on the road, sustainable goals, and so forth.

Tip #4: A quick pit stop

Shorter is better. TikTok and Shorts are hits for a reason. And Max also wants new tyres, but in the shortest time possible.

That's how learning works nowadays too: it's better to have more frequent short bursts than occasional long ones. Make the learning visually appealing, organised, well-written, supported with good media, and interactive. Break down larger topics and offer them over time. Repetitive learning or spaced repetition significantly increases learning efficiency without becoming monotonous.

Tip #5: Learn in your mother tongue

Bypass language barriers and use technology to deliver your e-learnings in your employees' mother tongue. Learning in one's own language enhances understanding and, consequently, results. For growing transport companies with an increasingly international group of drivers, this is a primary concern. However, with one click, 'AI' can translate your texts into all the languages your drivers speak. Extra tip: have the translation checked by a native speaker. It may cost initially, but digital content can be used for an extended period, significantly reducing costs per employee.
